IRC
www.thezoneirc.com - This is the website
for TheZone IRC Network which dosfx.com belongs to. It is a small, but growing
network of which I am a Co-Admin of.
www.mirc.com - This is my favorite IRC client.
In most cases it uses less resources than notepad.
www.irchelp.org - This is a great source of
help on IRC topics for both users and staff.
Game Development
www.gameinstitute.com - The Game Institute
offers several online courses in the area of game development. Every course I have
taken has been excellent. The instructors know what they're teaching and the courses
are reasonably priced.
www.gamedev.net - The GameDev website is a great
resource for game developers containing an insane amount of articles.
www.flipcode.com - Like the GameDev website, FlipCode
is another great resource for game developers.
www.garagegames.com - Garage Games is a website
for indie game developers. The site focuses on the Torque game engine which was used
to build Tribes II and has been continuously updated since the original Tribes II release.
For only $100 you can obtain a license to use the Torque engine, which includes full
source code.
Unreal Tournament 2003 Editing
www.planetunreal.com - Anybody interested in UT
should check this site daily for news. It is a great way to keep up with what is going on
in the Unreal community.
unreal.epicgames.com - This website is updated
almost daily and includes all the latest patches and tools for UT.
udn.epicgames.com - The Unreal Developer's Network
contains several articles related to developing your own UT mod.
3D Modeling
www.milkshape3d.com - Milkshape 3D is a great little
3D modeling application that costs only $20. It can definately do a lot more than its
given credit for.
www.3dbuzz.com - 3DBuzz is a great resource for
modelers. One of the best features is the downloadable video tutorials. These aren't your
standarad tutorials either. Buzz includes his students in his tutorials and provides quite
a bit of humurous narration which keeps his instruction from getting stale.
www.polycount.com - While Polycount is focused mostly
on Quake models, you get to see quite a bit of creativity there, especially in the forums.
Digital Art
www.sijun.com - Sijun is an artist for Valve. While
his website isn't updated very often, his forums contain a fairly large and extremely
talented community of artists. I visit his gallery/finished work forum almost daily.
